Virtual Coaching is available throughout California

You need guidance & support regarding your child’s development

Unfortunately, most of us didn’t receive a “how to” guide on how to navigate challenges we may be experiencing with supporting our child with developmental delays, social skills, behavioral triggers and emotional literacy. You do not have to navigate this alone!

  • The coaching experience is a safe and confidential space that provides support, encouragement, and practical skills that will restore your confidence.

  • Coaching is a non-judgmental space where you can express your feelings and concerns. Together we will choose guidance tools that will re-direct your child’s behaviors and bring the joy back to your home and family outings.

  • Knowing what to do next empowers you, as a parent. Our goal will be to practice techniques that will help both you, and your child experience emotional security and growth

  • We will work together to create school readiness goals tailored to your child’s social-emotional, cognitive and physical developmental needs. If your child has an IEP we will prioritize their IEP goals.

I believe that every child is unique and so should our approach to their learning.

Hi, I’m Connie Byrd. I have 25 years of experience in Early Childhood Development, working with families in inclusive environments. I hold a Child Development Program Director Permit with California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. I have a very diverse cultural background. I identify as multi-racial/BIPOC.  I was raised by my African-American father and my mother who identified as Spanish, Native American and French. I grew up with thirteen brothers and sisters in a blended family and multi-cultural household.  I am a proud mother of three adult children. I am also a very loving and attentive grandmother. I understand the challenges of parenting whether with a partner, as a single parent or as a grandparent raising a grandchild. I have been all three.

Specialized in Early Childhood Development & Social Emotional Learning

  • 90% of brain development occurs before age 5. During these formative years, a child’s experiences, relationships, environment, and early learning will have a significant influence on their future development

  • Preparing your child for school readiness involves more than academics. Children are able to successfully learn when they can self-regulate (manage their emotions), and have mastered social competence and emotionally literacy (play cooperatively, and understand the perspective of others).

  • In our coaching sessions, we will implement strategies and techniques that have been proven to have successful outcomes. We will include family centered approaches which are mindful of your family’s preferences, culture, and values, along with best practices.

  • I am interested in knowing the reason behind the behavior. Challenging behaviors can be a coping mechanism related to trauma or a triggered response. This will be a healing approach that builds trust, safety, social-emotional understanding, and includes appropriate responses that will support self-care.

Parenting can look different than we thought it would and it’s okay to need support.

How it works

During the free consultation we will talk about your needs and goals, what is working well and where is support needed. You will have an opportunity to ask me questions and then decide if Parent Coaching is a right fit for you. This is a collaborative process. We will work together to determine what strategies will work best for you and your child. The coaching services provided are educational and consultative in nature. The coach provides strategies for home to improve child-adult interactions and developing new skills.
